The Garden (v1)
I had an idea to create a series of images based on lyrics from music that has inspired me at some point in my life. One such song is from Rush’s 2012 album Clockwork Angels: “The Garden.” This is Rush’s swan song, as it is the concluding piece that seems to be an appropriate sentiment for Neil Peart, Rush’s drummer and lyricist who died a few years later. The song reminds me of the end of Voltaire’s Candide which takes place in a garden away from the distractions of the world. I have more to say about that elsewhere.
This image takes its inspiration more specifically from the last stanza:
The future disappears into memory
With only a moment between
Forever dwells in that moment
Hope is what remains to be seen
I love that it ends with the potential for hope. I still miss you, Neil.
